The Chelsea 281 Series Power Take-Off (PTO) is a hot-shift unit that mounts to a truck transmission's 10-bolt aperture. It uses 12V electric-over-hydraulic actuation to engage, driving a rotatable SAE B flange output shaft (7/8-inch, 13-tooth spline) to turn a hydraulic pump. The 28:44 gear ratio converts engine power into hydraulic flow, making it suitable for dump bodies, refuse equipment, and other vocational applications. Replacement is typically needed when the PTO slips under load, fails to engage, develops noisy bearings, or leaks hydraulic fluid from worn seals.
