It joins two pieces of tubing in a straight line without requiring flaring, making it easy to install in tight spaces. The long nut provides extra holding power and better vibration resistance than a standard nut, which is important in heavy-duty truck air brake lines, fuel systems, and pneumatic controls. Typically made of brass, it works with nylon, copper, or aluminum tubing but is not recommended for steel tubing unless proper sleeves are used.
