This is a single-cylinder piston ring set for heavy-duty Detroit Diesel engines. It includes the top fire ring, intermediate ring, and oil control rings needed to seal combustion pressure, control oil consumption, and manage heat transfer inside the cylinder. You typically replace this set when doing an in-frame overhaul or engine rebuild due to low compression, excessive blow-by, high oil consumption, or blue smoke from the exhaust. This particular set uses a 3.0mm top ring designed for Series 50 8.5L and Series 60 12.7L engines with articulated steel pistons.
