It supports and centers the middle of a two-piece driveshaft, absorbing vibration and allowing the shaft to flex slightly during acceleration and braking. A worn or noisy center bearing will often produce a rumbling, grinding, or squealing sound from under the cab, and replacement restores smooth driveline operation. This particular Spicer unit fits SPL70, SPL90, and SPL100 series drivelines and uses a non-slotted steel bracket with a heavy-duty rubber cushion that protects the bearing from dirt and debris.
