It has a 1.250-inch major diameter with 16 parallel splines and is designed to be welded into 1.250-inch diameter steel tubing with a 0.120-inch wall. The slip stub allows the driveshaft to telescope during suspension travel and length changes. It is typically replaced when the splines wear or become damaged, or when building or repairing a driveline assembly.
