It is designed to be welded into a 3.000-inch diameter tube with a .065-inch wall thickness. The shaft has a 1.375-inch major diameter, 16-spline involute spline that mates with a slip yoke, allowing the driveshaft to change length as the suspension moves. This component is commonly replaced when a slip joint is worn or when fabricating a new driveshaft to match existing yokes.
