It is designed to be welded onto 2.5-inch outside diameter steel tubing with 0.083-inch wall thickness and accepts a standard 1310 universal joint. The integral ball stud serves as the centering pivot for the CV head, allowing the driveshaft to operate smoothly at higher angles while reducing vibration. It is typically replaced when the ball stud wears or the yoke becomes damaged during rebuilds of heavy-duty truck, off-road, and industrial driveshafts.
