It features a 4-inch mandrel that works with standard 4-inch wide winch straps, allowing you to tie down loads with a working limit of 5,500 pounds. The winch body is made from heat-treated carbon steel and includes two set screws, which let you easily move or remove the winch along the trailer’s stake pocket channel as your load configuration changes. You typically replace this component when the body cracks, the sprocket teeth wear out, or the mandrel cap holes become elongated (egged out), which can make the winch bar slip dangerously under tension.
