It uses temperature-sensitive silicone fluid to engage the engine cooling fan only when needed, improving fuel economy and reducing fan noise. This unit is a Kysor-style design commonly installed on Cummins ISB 5.9L engines (2001 and newer) in vehicles such as Freightliner trucks. When replacing this clutch, the hub (pulley) bearings must also be replaced to ensure proper operation and maintain the warranty.
