It's made from durable HNBR (hydrogenated nitrile) rubber, which provides excellent resistance to heat, abrasion, engine oil, diesel fuel, and hydraulic fluids. This type of seal is typically used in heavy-duty engine applications, such as water pumps or cylinder liner seals, to prevent fluid leaks between mating surfaces. It should be replaced whenever you disassemble the component it seals, or if you find a leak or notice the old O-ring has become hard, cracked, or flattened.
