It provides the connection point between a universal joint and a driveshaft tube, and features a thru hole in the yoke to allow the inner shaft to collapse further into the tube during installation or operation. It is typically replaced when building or repairing a PTO shaft, or when the existing yoke is worn, damaged, or you need the extra clearance provided by the thru-hole design.
