FRONT INPUT SEAL

This is a differential input (pinion) seal designed to hold gear oil at the front of the carrier where the driveshaft connects to the pinion flange. It is made of fluoro-elastomer (Viton-class) with a spring-loaded multi-lip design to resist high temperatures and prevent leaks. You replace this seal when gear oil is seeping from the front of the differential, often during pinion bearing or yoke service. The -WEL suffix is a vendor-specific identifier for a part equivalent to the National/Timken 100494 standard seal.
