It slides onto a matching splined shaft (typically a transmission tailshaft or PTO output) to allow the driveshaft’s effective length to change as the suspension cycles, preventing binding and protecting the transmission and U-joints. The yoke is designed for 1000 series U-joints with a 0.938-inch cap and 1.500-inch internal snap ring lockup. It is commonly used in PTO-style driveshafts on heavy-duty trucks and off-highway equipment. The part is now obsolete from Spicer, but cross-referenced replacements are available.
